Ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound uses sound waves to obtain images of body organs and can help identify many clinical problems and are used in prenatal studies as well as imaging of the uterus and ovaries, gallbladder, liver and kidneys to diagnose disease.
Ultrasound services at KCMC are performed by sonographers. These specially trained healthcare professionals work with radiologists, also trained in ultrasound, who interpret the images obtained during the exam. Ultrasound does not require the use of radiation, special dyes or anesthesia.
