Hospice
Hospice of Kershaw County provides compassionate, quality home care for people with terminal illnesses. The hospice team of specially trained nurses, physicians, social workers, clergy and volunteers work with patients and their families to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support that enhances the quality of life. Working closely with the patient's physician, hospice provides one or more of the following services:
Team approach to patient care
Registered nurse on call 24-hours a day, seven days a week
Medical social services
Spiritual support
Occupational, physical, speech, and other therapies
Bereavement care and support
Bereavement services are typically provided for up to one year by professional staff and volunteers. Services include one-to-one counseling, support groups and educational literature. Hospice of Kershaw County also sponsors a bereavement support group that meets on a monthly basis.
No one is denied hospice services. While some insurance policies cover hospice services of Kershaw County, as does Medicare and Medicaid, on-going financial support from the community is crucial. Much of the funding for hospice services comes in the form of grants, memorial contributions and special events. We appreciate your tax-deductible contributions, which may be designated through The Hospital Foundation to Advance Health Care in Kershaw County.
