The Health Resource Center

The Health Resource Center is the Medical Center's hub for health education, wellness training, and support groups, as well as a gathering place for civic events for the community and surrounding areas. Programs include Fitness Programs, Lunch & Learns, 14 Karat Club (ages 55 and older), and much, much more. The Health Resource Center also houses the Healthcare Information Library.

The KCMC Health Resource Center is located at 124 Battleship Road in Camden, SC. Some classes require pre-registration and charge a fee. To register or learn more, call 803-424-0461.

Ask the Doctors
Throughout the year, a panel of medical experts and patients answer your questions on health issues that concern you most, such as cancer and heart disease.

Lunch and Learn
Join us for a healthy buffet lunch and programs that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Childbirth Classes
Learn about pregnancy discomforts, nutrition, relaxation methods, Stages of labor, the coach's role, pain management, delivery, postpartum care and newborn care alongside other expectant Moms and their coaches. Tour KCMC's birthing center and meet the nurses and staff with instructors Beth Kelly RNC, CCE, IBCLC, and Birgitta Turner RNC, CCE. Classes are free.

Fitness Classes
Join your friends and get in shape! We offer regular classes in pilates, yoga, step aerobics, body shaping, body toning and seniors fitness.

CPR/First Aid/AED Classes
Certified instructors from the American Heart Association teach courses in adult and pediatric CPR to prepare you for emergencies.

Health Screenings
From basic cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and body composition to new services such as triglyceride screenings and pulmonary function tests, we offer various health screenings each month at a nominal fee.

14 Karat Club
More than 1,000 members strong, our community health program designed just for seniors offers physician-designed fitness classes, health education seminars, health screenings, social events and more for a nominal fee. If you are 55 or over, come join us!

Arm Chair Travel
Come into the Health Resource Center and let’s travel to an exciting place. Armchair travel is when you sit in the comfort of the HRC among your fellow 14 Karat Club members and take in a travel movie to an exotic location. Where we travel to in the movie determines the type of food we have for lunch that day!

Support Groups
The support of fellow patients and medical experts alike can help members of our community cope with the loss of a loved one, learn more about managing disease, and provide health information to make a positive difference in their lives. Support groups offer help for bereavement, diabetes and more.

Diabetes Management Program
If you have diabetes, learning to manage the disease is essential. This course is designed for those recently diagnosed or those who need a refresher course on how to control their diabetes.

Camp Air Supply
Each summer, asthmatic children ages 6 through 12 gain valuable health information at Camp Air Supply, our annual summer camp where children learn to manage their asthma and have fun in the process.

Kershaw County SAFE KIDS Coalition
The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is dedicated to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury -- the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. Each year, we provide instruction that can help keep your kids safe, hosting SAFE KIDS events such as bicycle safety fairs, programs on home safety, water safety, fire prevention and car seat checks. We also offer free car seat installation by appointment.

Trick or Treat Trail
Looking for a safe and fun atmosphere for Halloween activities? Join us each year, where children ages 12 and under find plenty of surprises donated by participating local agencies and organizations.

Wellness Initiative Network (WIN) Mobile Wellness Unit
Our WIN van takes good health on the road, stopping in rural areas of Kershaw County to offer health education programs and health screenings to area residents. Call and book the WIN van for your next event.
